THE ANGER OF THE FURIES

4

She cought him up when an other howling, spiteful vortex expanded in front of him. She needed all her strength to narrow him behind the edge of a rock. Maybe it was safer. She didn’t let him go.

’’Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Theano outbellowed the anger of the Furies. She was angry because she saw like this that person who was looked up to by her in all her life. At the same time she felt fathomless gratitude. She came just in time...

’’It's what I deserve.” she didn’t know that the magical occurrence which resembled the strong wind-storm, or the hopelessness of the situation chased the tears into these nice, intelligent eyes. Maybe both, simultaneously. Theano was appeased because of the vaporous glance, however she still held strongly Pythagoras. Stronger than she could ever imagine. ’’Get off of me!” the young man tried to get out of her pressure.

’’No!” she cried. ’’I won’t let you get yourself killed!” and although she continued placiderly, she couldn’t sobdue her voice, because of the scream of the Furies, if she wanted Flecky to hear perfectly every single word. ’’You said, it’s you they want, but I tell you something, Flecky! Me too! And I won’t let some smoke drag away from me.”

The Furies, as if they had felt she was talking about them, started jangling stronger than before. The girl didn’t have faith in her own lung-power, so she exchanged her words for acts. Pythagoras’ eyes developed because of that immediate kiss that Theano gave him. A kiss in any case speaks more than 1000 words.

After the initial shock Pythagoras hugged Theano so strongly as if he had held on to the life itself. They felt trembling of each other from this unusual closeness. Although the kiss didn’t take a long time, everything got became a blur them for that few moments. There weren’t Furies, there wasn’t life-danger, nothing existed but this long time unspoken bond between them.

Why just now? Pythagoras would have asked her if Theano’s words hadn’t got ahead of him.

’’You were right, Flecky. There is a secret even you don’t know. Something about I am not afraid to tell you. Just... Survive it, right?”

Pythagoras insipidly nodded while the thought was rumbling in his head, why didn’t he notice what is hiding in the background of Theano’s behaviour. The same thing happened to both of them, nevertheless, if this kiss hadn’t opened his eyes, he would have died, by the anger of the Furies, that he has never got to know about anything. The phrase ''the love is blind” got a new meaning for him.

Jason grasped his friend’s hand at the last moment, when the screaming Furies returned after an alarm silent minute. They immediately striked the ’triangle guy’ with renewed effort.

’’Help me!” Pythagoras tried to shout louder than the Furies. He looked at Jason and then Theano.

After this something strange happened.

’’I, Arcas, son of Mnesarchus, forgive the man who murdered my father! I call to you to cease your vengeance!”

The words outbellowed the deafeningly loud, but made no change.

’’It has to come from your heart.” Theano yelled up to him.

’’You have to forgive him completely. You have to mean it!” Jason highlighted.

’’I can't!” Arcas shaked his head. His heart was full of fears. He snuggled up to a rock. He didn’t want to see how the anger of the Furies swallowed his only brother.

’’Please. He is the kindest man I have ever known.” Jason begged him. It was strange: he felt he intermediated Theano’s thoughts.

’’I'm sorry, Arcas.” Pythagoras apologized at last time. The injured boy caught after his brother’s hand, before the baleful, grey vortex would had swallowed him forever.

Theano and Jason fell forward when the hands of the 'triangle guy' slipped out of their strong grips. Pythagoras felt the pelitic, cool night sand of the cave under himself. For a heartbeat he couldn't comprehend indeed, what happened. Then when he looked up, he found himself opposite to Arcas, Jason and Theano.

''What happened?” he asked a little dazedly. Just like he rose from deep sleep.

''The word of blood won.” Jason summarized the bearing of a case. He patted Arcas on the back.

''And where is Hercules?” the 'triangle guy' looked round.

''This way!” the cave echod the voice of their almost always hungry and thirsty friend. Jason showed the way, and he looked like he knew more than he showed, he holt Arcas next to himself that Pythagoras and Theano could make clear the events of the past.

The girl would already have gone after Jason. She took inconveniently good care to keep proper distance from the 'triangle guy'. She then felt how strong but gentle fingers clasped around her wrist and they drew her back away. And before Theano would have said anything, his lips sealed her. This sudden passion surprised the girl and even her breath failed her.

''I believe I owed you this.” it sounded rather orientation then explanation.

''As regards that I also owe you. With the truth.”

She felt the time came that Pythagoras finally heard everything she wanted to tell him during their parting.

She started talking, and there, in the heart of the cave, and according to her words; in his mind's eyes of the 'triangle guy' revived the memories of that certain last evening… in this time from her point of view…
